I-SWEEEP Reports to Come

We expect to hear from some of the Connecticut I-SWEEEP competitors in the days to come.

Here’s a quick note that Aasiya Ahmed, Madina Academy Upper School, Windsor was kind enough to send when she just arrived home to Houston.

The trip was excellent. I got to meet people from so many countries, including Slovenia, South Africa, Malaysia and Turkey, and I hope to keep in contact with them. At the opening ceremonies, I got to hold the two American flags representing Connecticut (when our state was called out, we needed to run to the stage waving them). The judging day went very well, it was very similar to how we have it at CSEF.

Thank you for the Connecticut pins, they came in handy during the social event. I also got to talk to a couple of the other kids from CT there!

I just wanted to thank you Mr. Wisner, and everyone else from the CSEF for this opportunity. I cannot explain to you how thankful I am to have been given the opportunity to compete at I-SWEEEP, representing the Connecticut Science & Engineering Fair. It was such an honor. It may be too early to start thinking about it, but I cannot wait to participate in the Connecticut Science Fair again!

Thank you again,
Aasiya

Peter Russell, Greenwich High School I-SWEEEP  impressions

Hi Everyone,

The trip to Houston was amazing: from the Opening Ceremonies with those extraordinary jugglers to the closing ceremonies with the Japanese drummers, I-SWEEEP was an extraordinary experience. The opportunity to meet with students from all over the U.S., as well as from all over the world, cannot be underestimated; we learned so much and had a great time doing it. The friends made there are brilliant peoples, and the memories shared will last a lifetime. The Harmony Public Schools and company did a great job of welcoming us to the Fair and of taking care of us while we were there. The Public Viewing, the STEM Challenge, the social events (yes, thanks for the pins — they were handy), and the trip to NASA were all terrific.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t offer a huge thank you to Mr. Wisner and all those who make the CSEF the outstanding science fair that it is. It is clear from the success of the Connecticut Delegation that we owe the CSEF a tremendous amount of thanks for helping to prepare us for I-SWEEEP. The rigor of our State Science Fair and the keen competition within Connecticut clearly served us very well. Thank you — we were honored and thrilled to be representing our home state.
We are all hoping to be a part of CSEF again in 2014. Thank you again for 2013.

Sincerely,
Peter Russell
Greenwich High School
