(Hartford, CT) – Applications are now being accepted from high school seniors in the class of 2022 to  represent Connecticut at the 2022 Virtual National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp). Two students from each state, Washington, D.C, and select countries will attend the all-expenses-paid program which will be held virtually from June 27 through July 20, 2022.

Hosted in Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia since 1963, the NYSCamp  (http://www.nyscamp.org/) has traditionally been a residential science, technology, engineering, and  mathematics (STEM) program designed to honor and challenge some of the nation’s rising STEM  leaders and provide them with opportunities to engage with STEM professionals and participate in  exciting outdoor activities. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the 2022 NYSCamp will  be an entirely virtual experience which will include world-class lectures, directed studies, and seminars  with prestigious and up and coming STEM professionals who are making a difference in their fields of  study and changing the world for good. The camp will also provide significant opportunities for  delegates to interact and engage with STEM professionals, camp staph (intentional misspelling to highlight their infectious enthusiasm), and other delegates in exciting, fun, and meaningful ways. Even  though delegates can’t gather in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia this year, the 2022 virtual NYSCamp will be an engaging, stimulating, and unforgettable educational experience!

The NYSCamp is offered to selected participants at NO COST so that talented students may attend  regardless of their financial ability. Since selection to attend camp is a very competitive process with  only two delegates guaranteed a spot from each state or nation, we expect NYSCamp delegates to regularly engage in camp activities for the duration of camp. At past virtual camps, most delegates  spent an average of 4 hours per day engaged in camp activities. Some delegates may want or need  to hold part time jobs, participate in part time internships, or take short trips with family or friends  during the 3.5 weeks of camp. Within reason, the virtual NYSCamp experience is designed to allow  delegates to work around these other commitments and still participate meaningfully at camp.  Additionally, because the camp is virtual, delegates will be able to tune in remotely from practically  anywhere.

Applications must be submitted online at http://apply.nyscamp.org by 11:59 PM EST on March 31, 2022.
