Dr. William Petit Jr. with family members presented the grant check to Bob Wisner and Doug King on January 21

Connecticut Science Fair Association a $5000 grant for the 2016 Connecticut Science and Engineering Fair.

This grant will be used to establish the Petit Family Foundation Women in Science and Engineering Awards to recognize young women in grades 7&8 and 9 to12 for their outstanding research achievements in Life and Physical Sciences. Twelve awards will be presented to the selected young women students at the Finalist Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 19 at Quinnipiac University.

The Petit Family Foundation honors the memories of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, Hayley Elizabeth Petit and Michaela Rose Petit by continuing the kindness, idealism and activism that defined their lives. The Foundation’s funds are given to foster the education of young people, especially women in the sciences; to improve the lives of those affected by chronic illnesses; and to support efforts to protect and help those affected by violence.
